Sanctuary is a term we all remember from our childhood , those of us from the baby boomer generation. The movies we watched portrayed SANCTUARY as an inviolable right of the church and a testimony to the HOLINESS OF G-D. Western Movies used to show the villagers seeking SANCTUARY in the local church with the blessings of the PADRE. Even criminals could seek refuge in the safety of the church where they would be beyond the reach of the law.
So, the question is , what has happened to the respect for the power of SANCTUARY under the invisible germs of the “Pandemic?” Is the power of scripture and faith in our supernatural sovereign ruler of the universe relegated to abandonment for fear of governmental “Proclamations?” Jesus said when asked about paying taxes ; “Render unto Caesar what is Caesars’, and unto G-d What is G-ds.” We are not talking about taxes, but about the right to assemble in our church sanctuary and worship our creator.
Does the government have power to stop us? The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution says; “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.” In other words, the governments’ power is limited by the Constitution, not the peoples’.
The time is now for all adult believers to claim our rights as Christians and citizens to worship in our House of G-D without fear of government reprisal. We must stand up now to claim SANCTUARY in our churches and resist unlawful proclamations from the local authorities.
